Why You Should Apply To The HERstory Made Fund
This is NOT a Shark Tank type fund! We are NOT here to do "Mr. Wonderful" type deals. We are actually here to help women grow their business. While we don't have set terms, it will be easily negotiated with each selected company for mutual benefit.
We are not Sharks, we are simply Wonder Women. Aside from our initial investment, we want to see you succeed. Our company was built into an international company that has helped many companies scale into new markets. So with that experience, we can serve in an advisory capacity depending on your needs. Our Criteria
We are particularly, but not exclusively, interested in making investments in companies within:
- Fintech,
- Insurtech,
- Cannabis,
- Cryptocurrency,
- Consumer Beauty Products,
- Products for Women and Children,
- Alcohol/Liquor/Spirits,
- AI industries,
- and open to others with the following exceptions below.
The following categories do NOT meet our investment criteria:
- franchises,
- network marketing or MLM companies
- not-for-profit organizations without a social entrepreneurship component
In addition, we do NOT fund companies where our investments are subject to a broker/dealer fee.
We look for the following:
- A capable and diverse management team with Female Founder(s) & Diverse Female C-Level Executives
- A scalable For Profit business model as a valid & existing company
- An addressable market of at least $200 million
- Limited capital expenditure requirements
- Opportunities that can be accelerated with support from our fund
Typically, but not exclusively, companies in which we invest also meet these criteria:
- Product is at the minimum in beta stage of development or already on the market
- Company has some proof of concept revenue or already producing revenue
- A reasonable exit strategy within 3-5 years
- Typical valuation at first funding below $20 million
- Typically seeking first-round of funding of up to $10,000,000
- For Consumer Product companies, Gross Margins Over 30%
- For Technology Companies, Protectable Intellectual property
Process and Timing
In the application process, you will be asked a series of questions about your business. Your answers will be presented to our screening committee, so be sure they are as accurate and as concise as possible in illustrating the long term vision and how the company will grow. Be ready to complete the application in one session.
From application to funding, our investment process takes 4 to 5 weeks on average (possibly faster depending on how fast the applicants responds). Steps in the process include up to two pitch presentations. It will be followed by approximately 3 weeks of due diligence. Due diligence includes close examination of the company, team, products or services, and customers. During the due diligence process, we may review and/or negotiate an existing term sheet. The final step is a legal and accounting diligence necessary to document the investment.
